FAQs

The most frequent questions, answered!

How long does teeth whitening last?

Typically, you can expect the whitening result from the teeth whitening to last for a couple of years. The results will last longer if you try avoiding red wine, coffee and smoking.

Is teeth whitening bad for enamel?

There is no permanent damage caused to the enamel or any tooth structures by tooth whitening.

Will teeth whitening make my teeth sensitive?

Whilst most patients do not experience sensitivity during their whitening treatment, we get some that do. Sensitivity can happen during and after the use of your home whitening kit. If you do experience sensitivity, we suggest using desensitising toothpaste to overcome this.

Can sensitive teeth be whitened?

You may worry that tooth sensitivity may be an issue when you’re having a teeth whitening procedure. While an over-the-counter whitening product could cause irritation to someone with sensitive teeth, our teeth whitening procedure is gentle and safe.

Is teeth whitening right for you?

You’ll need to be 18 or over to have teeth whitening

Your teeth and gums must be healthy, which your dentist will check during your initial consultation.

Teeth whitening won’t lighten the colour of any crowns, veneers, bridges or dentures.

Your dentist at Castle Street Dental will go over all of this in your initial consultation.

It's safe and won't damage your teeth.
